Citi® Double Cash Card Review: Earn Double Cash Back

There’s only one thing better than earning cash back on purchases, and that’s earning DOUBLE cash back!

There’s really only one credit card that can offer that deal, and that’s the Citi® Double Cash Card.

Here’s a short summary of everything the Citi® Double Cash Card has to offer:

    • 1% cash back on purchases and 1% cash back as you pay for those purchases
    • A great intro APR for balance transfers, the regular APR would apply after the intro period ends.
    • No annual fee

But there is way more to talk about. Let’s dive in!

Citi® Double Cash Features

Cash Back

Citi®’s Double Cash Card’s rewards are the star of this card. You’ll earn unlimited 1% cash back when you buy, and you’ll get an additional 1% when you pay off your credit card.

You’ll earn the extra 1% whether you pay in full or pay your credit card off over time. However, you will have to pay your minimum credit card payment each month to earn the extra 1%. There are absolutely no caps or restrictions on the cash back you can earn.

You can redeem your cash rewards in two ways: credit card statements or checks.

No Annual Fee

Not only does the Citi® Double Cash Card offer great cash back, but it comes with absolutely no annual fee! That means all that cash back you earn goes right into your pocket.

Balance Transfer Offer

Although the Citi® Double Cash Card offers a great introductory offer, you won’t earn cash back on the money you transfer. So that’s something to consider.

No Late Fee Penalty

The first time you miss a payment and have to make a late payment, Citi won’t fault you.

Other Fees

While Citi is relaxed about their late fee penalty, there are a few other fees associated with the Citi® Double Cash Card.

There’s a balance transfer fee of $5 or 3% of the amount of each transfer, whichever is greater (minimum $5) for balance transfers completed in the first 4 months from account opening. After the first 4 months, fees are 5% (minimum $5) for each transfer. In addition, Cash Advances have a fee of $10 or 5% of the amount of each cash advance, whichever is greater.

Finally, this is not the card to use abroad, as there’s a 3% foreign transaction fee. For travel rewards cards, we recommend the Chase Sapphire Preferred.

Like all good credit card companies these days, Citi offers a few security features that help make sure your credit card is as secure as possible.

Your card comes with a EMV Chip Technology. Plus, your card comes with purchase protection, so you won’t be charged for any unauthorized charges.

Should You Get The Citi® Double Cash Card?

The Citi® Double Cash Card is a decent balance transfer credit card, but it is not the card to use while traveling. While you can apply the cash you earn towards travel, there are plenty of other travel rewards credit cards out there that can earn you significantly better rewards.

Plus, the Citi® Double Cash Card has a 3% transaction fee.
