Instructions
  1. Place all of the ingredients into the bucket of your bread machine.
  2. Use the smaller amount of water in the summer, or during humid conditions; use the larger amount of water in winter, or if you're in a dry climate.
  3. Program your machine for basic white bread, light crust. Midway through the second kneading cycle, check the dough; it should be soft, smooth and slightly sticky.
  4. Adjust the dough's consistency with additional flour or water, if necessary.
  5. For a true English muffin effect, remove the dough after either the final kneading or before the final rise and roll it in cornmeal.
  6. Place the dough back in the machine to rise and bake.
  7. Remove the finished bread from the machine, and cool it on a rack.

  1. There is actually more to that. If you have time-of-use based electricity tariff, you will save on electricity costs on night time. In Northern Europe we have hourly priced electricity contracts available and I have one of those. Hourly prices vary of course but they are cheaper on average because there is insurance type of premium what people pay on fixed energy prices. I know energy markets in US depend much more on location and even changing energy retailer might not be an option. I can choose from any energy retailer that operates in Norway, Sweden, Denmark or Finland if they just offer the contract to Finland where I live.

  2. Do you have a good recipe for banana nut bread and/or adding oats to bread? My husband and I are just trying out the breadmaker today.
